A famous afternoon
In a memorable final, Worcester Park FC lifted the Surrey Intermediate County Cup — the club's most prestigious honour in recent history. A resolute defensive display and a clinical second-half finish sealed a famous victory in front of a travelling support that made the occasion feel like a home tie.
County cup finals are won on the details, and this one was no different. The side that has spent the season out-scoring the division showed the other half of its character: patient out of possession, organised between the lines, and ruthless with the one clear opening that mattered.
Part of a remarkable season
The cup was one of three trophies Worcester Park competed for in 2025/26. The same squad were crowned league champions and came agonisingly close to completing an historic treble, narrowly losing the League Cup final on penalties.
Across the campaign the record read 30 played, 23 won, 2 drawn and 5 lost, with 84 goals scored — the numbers of a team that attacked relentlessly and defended when it counted.
What it means
For a club whose ambitions have often been limited by its facilities rather than its football, silverware of this standing matters. Skinners Field has hosted countless local derbies, cup ties and title-deciding matches over the years, and this final adds another chapter to a story that stretches back to 1921.
